INNSBRUCK, Austria (AP) -- An anti-pornography activist wants officials in the Alpine city of Innsbruck to take down a large crucifix bearing a sculpture of a naked Jesus Christ.

Martin Humer, who gained notoriety last year after he painted part of a statue of a nude Mozart and stuck feathers on it, is pressuring authorities to remove the crucifix from a public square where it has been displayed for 20 years, public broadcaster ORF reported Thursday.

Humer, an 82-year-old former photographer, said he and about 100 supporters were organizing a protest for Friday.

Mayor Hilde Zach dismissed the fuss and said she would refuse to remove the crucifix, insisting it is a work of art and is in no way pornographic.

In March 2006, the public prosecutor's office in Salzburg charged Humer and an accomplice with vandalism for defacing the "Homage to Mozart" statue with red and green enamel and covering it with white feathers.

I came across this same article the other day.. i almost posted it.....lol. Seriously i dont see anything wrong with it. it's not portraying the statue in a sexual nature.. but from the other end i can see why some would be angry from their Christian beliefs..  To me it is a form of art just as the mayor says it is..

I'm a Bible believing nudist who lives in Newcastle, Australia.  I first tried naturism when I was 15 on Venice beach, California in the 70's when it was a nude beach (outlawed in 1975).

I'm actually mildly offended when Jesus isn't naked on that cross.   Not only does the Bible clear state that he was stripped but that was the common practice for the Romans when crucifying.  How wrong it was for Mel Gibson to have Jesus still have a cloth on inthe otherwise great depiction in "The Passion".

If you were honest you would admit there is something sexually erotic about nudity and pain. You would have got off if Jesus was naked in that movie hanging on the Cross.

Why is something that occurred some 2000 years ago still relevant today? Im an athiest and proud. Who cares if he was clothed or not.

I saw Him one day and no, He wasn't nude. But I don't believe He minds if others are! Stuart.

You saw Jesus, Stuart?

Stuart Baanstra November 8, 2011, 4:16 am
When I was fifteen, in a church in New Zealand. It was during a service, and I closed my eyes, and there he was. He was in a long pale blue robe, with the bluest eyes you've ever seen. He stood before me with his arms stretched towards me, palms facing upwards. He didn't speak. He was there about a minute and when I opened my eyes, he was gone.

Was it not a vivid dream or imagination?

Stuart Baanstra November 8, 2011, 4:46 am
It wasn't a dream because I was awake, though it could have been my imagination. I guess it's what you believe.
