Hi to all the brave models that have appeared on this site. i congratulate each and everyone of your shoot.

on maked australians mark 1 i started a thread about your experience behind the lense but it never really took off due the site going down so i would like to reopen the topic.

if you are comfortable enough to share your experience behind the lense than please do. it is always good to hear the stories from the models in the picture. it may just give someone the encouragement needed to do the same thing. stories of this nature are both interesting and inspiring to hear about. so please give it some thought. i already can see that the shoots are very impressive and you do have fans that would like to hear your thoughts.

i will start off with my experience. unfortunatley i cant talk about from the same point of view that you all have. by that i mean with a photographer from this site. you see at the time my shoot was done my wife and i were living in darwin and with the support of naked australians we gave it a go ourselves. the shoot was to give a pictorial view in the day to day life of a nudist.

the nudity wasnt a scary thing for us as we are nudists in real life. we started off having breakfeast.  with my naked chef impersionation out of the way we headed for the legal nude beach that darwin is lucky enough to have. i just went about my usual doings on the beach whilt my wife snapped away. even though   i didnt have professional photographer doing the shoot it was still exciting to be having your photo taken when nude. we continued shooting when we got home with the obligotory shower scene.

a few weekends after the shoot we went to the nudist resort near darwin for the second part of the shoot. the resort host a terrfic pool which is exactly what you need in the top end. we spent most of the day lazing about in the pool. when the afternoon came along it cooled down enough to go for a walk along the bush tracks on the property to have a look at the giant termite mounds. these things are huge. i tried climing some but most were just too big.

overall all we both had a lot of fun doing the shoot. we are currently working on a shoot that will feature both of us. well i hope you enjoyed my little insight into my shoot. i hope to read a few of yours soon

I am Melissa (no not my real name by the way).

I did the photoshoot at about 7 am in the morning in a reserve next to modern suburbia woot woot!

My reasons for doing the shoot may be slightly different to other peoples, becasue while I love the nude form, I am not completely comfortable stripping in front of absolutely everyone (which is kind of the purpose of the photos isn't it?)

But yes, back to my topic. Why I did it, is becasue I have had an eating disorder for over 5 years, and I have managed to keep my wieght above 50kg for the first time in that 5 years.

To me it was celebrating a huge milestone in my life. and coming to terms with the fact that while I may not ahve a perfect body, and in reality never will, I am normal.

I wanted to show people that every person is different, that you don't ahve to look like a ralph model to be beautiful...

The shoot itself was fun, we almost gave an extremely old bike rider a heart attack after he saw me naked hehe, and a few bike riders decided to circle the area we were taking the photos a few times more than they really needed, but I am doing another shoot, and hope to do more work with Naked Australians in the next few years.

Anyways, that was my ramble, Melissa

Melissa,

We had to reply to your message because it was so powerful. What you wrote was so honest and uplifting. Thank you for sharing your story with us.

For the record, Melissa had to face two photographers on the day which never normally happens. Usually a model meets with either Alex or Glenn who knock the shoots over one-on-one with the model.

Poor little Melissa, however, had both our photographers in her face as it was Glenn's very first shoot and Naked Australians was 'training him up' so to speak. Yes, even Glenn, a photographer with decades of experience, needed to be shown the ropes here at Naked Australians.

Melissa was brilliant to work with. Her confidence grew so quickly as the shoot progressed. We didn't know Melissa had body issues when we shot her. She is clearly a beautiful and highly attractive girl.

If Naked Australians can achieve one thing by existing on the net, we hope it is to make everyone more accepting of their own body and the bodies of other people.

We have never and will never discriminate here on Naked Australians. Anyone who wants to do a shoot can so long as a time and a place can be worked out.

Melissa you are wonderful and hopefully you, combined with the cheekiness of Naked Australians, will offer our viewers a few surprises in the coming months. Thank you.

Angus, if you are reading this we would love you to post a bit of a blurb about your experience. We were excited to read on one of the other threads that you also mentioned something about the shoot helping you to overcome body issues. Again, just like Melissa, we didn't realise our shoot had helped you in this way. Maybe you could tell the viewers what happened on your shoot - how you felt, what you did and why you returned for a second shoot?

Hey Mel i wanted to know what it felt like to be naked and walking around whilst someone is taking your photographs?

Shaun June 25, 2007, 9:25 pm

I have never undertaken a nude photo shoot before that allows me to viewed publicly but, would like to in the not too distant future. I have my own personal nude portfolio where i got some semi-professional shots done by a photo studio a couple of years ago; but, nothing ever since that time that I can really speak of. I really enjoyed having the shoot done at  the studio but, i take my hat off to those that can do it for the cause of promoting nudity. I hope one day that my photo will be posted up there as well. As, I would like to involve myself doing some real nude modelling for the camera as more of a hobby and partly as a profession.

Take the first step Shaun. E-mail us with your pics and details.

Yes... its a big step isnt it..? We live in such a box, a square society expects us to fill, and most of us dare not step outside that, in fear of getting judged ...

That shoot was my second one with Glenn. The first one had a different theme all together. Glenn tried to concentrate on my muscle form and my athletic body, and we tried some obscure things. I was very nervous, and although the muscle form in most pictures is very obvious, I think the photos were not as good as I was much too tense. But I still have to laugh at Glenn's comment; he said I was the only girl he ever met that had a six pack on her back!

I think we all have issues, and a past and insecurities, that unfortunately no one can fix for us, we have to fix these things for ourselves. I too do not come from a nudist background, and although I sleep in the nude and run around my house in the nude, I generally do not feel comfortable to run around in the nude infront of other people, mainly because I am embarressed about myself - my body. I grew up in a strict household with a military father. Everything was regimented. And my father believed in discipline and control. He believed he could stay in control by putting people down, even his own family and daughter. So not a day went by when I wasn't told I was ugly, or my hair was like straw, or I would not pass university as I was not smart enough. Whilst living away from home very early to escape this, and earning a living scrubbing floors and studying, I too had eating issues - punishment or neglect - it doesn't really matter now. My girlfriend walked through the door one day with bags of groceries and told me, if I did not eat, she would take me to the hospital and have me put on a drip. She told me I was no longer looking attractive to men. And once you have been there, it doesn't take much to slip back there, doesn't matter how many years have passed...

But I love food, and I love to enjoy the different tastes in life. So what were the photo-shoots all about ? Why not? Why believe everything people tell you? Why not step outside the box, and believe in yourself, do it just for fun, do it to love yourself, do it to see yourself in a different light, do it, because it is something that I would not ordinarily have done had I followed my fathers' narrow minded principals.

And... I am a hopeless romantic. No matter what I thought of myself or my body, I liked the idea of the timeless Audrey Hepburn image on a Black & White canvas; a mystery lost in time somewhere; that could never date or age and men would always treasure, in a class of her own, almost untouchable.... a beauty whose heartbreaks we knew so little of...

Glenn I believe has achieved this so well in this last shoot. I look at those photos and I don't see me, I see the romantic image that I had in mind, lost in time somewhere. Glenn managed to interpret what I had in my mind, and now it doesn't matter, whether 100 years from now or 100 years ago; its timeless and through it, I will never age.

Silly...perhaps... but we have to remember, we all feel and see things differently, and whatever it takes to make us fly......

Hey everyone

I thought I would post a little comment about my second photo shoot for NA that occured yesterday. A friend did a photo shoot with me, as well as one on her own, and I did a seperate one as well. We decided to get photos of the darker side of our personalities, as we both have a side that is very masochistic and sadistic. Yet again, another little piece of info on my personality, but it may explain the content for some of the photos, is that I have mental illness, which is extremely dark, and can be painful and oppressive to live with.

But AAAAAAAAANNNNNNNNNNNYWAY, back to the topic. The photos are a complete  contrast to the ones you have already seen, Miss X you actually gave us an idea, which we built on and used shamelessly. The photos (or the ones that we saw) are unbelievable, and to be quite honest, I really don't think that I look like that, but apparently I do.

Some of the shots that Glen took are very arty, and some are implying sexuality and certain other things. It was the most relaxed shoot, my friend and I were in hysterics for some of it, and a lot more of my personality and likes come through in the photos.

I had an even better time doing this shoot than I did on the first one, which is really saying something. I hope you all like the photos when they are put up.

Mel (Dammit I keep going to write my real name)

Miss X June 28, 2007, 1:50 pm

Well Mel, I am honored you feel there was an idea there :-) Perhaps one day we can do a shoot together - after all, girls just want to have fun! I look forward to seeing the 'other' side of you!

Well my 'next' shoot was done very early this morning, and what a crazy idea it was...I could not sleep half the night with a mixture of excitement, anticipation and being scared out of my wits... but we did it! Can't say too much about it, other than it will be a story to tell at every dinner party.... I will post the story behind the shoot when the photos are out !.... oh and yes, it will be black & white :-)

Stac July 23, 2007, 11:29 pm

I did a shoot with Alex back in 2005, can you believe it? It was, like you have all said, ana amazing experience and I still can't believe I did it. It just wasn't like me.

I did it because I had just turned 18 and I guess I was trying to prove soething to my parents and to me, not that I ever showed my parents.

It was a cold day when we did our shoot and it was very very early. I ran late of course. Alex was so nice to me and he kept apologising for taking so long with the photographs but I actually didn't mind. Once I had taken the big step, I was kind of fine. Well maybe it took 10 minutes or so to get used to it.

Alex and I are still friends today and thanks for being so sweet and for making me look 'pretty'.

Love to you all.

Hi all. i thought i would bring this thread back up in the spotlight as there are a few new models and more of the models are responding to the threads on this forum which is great.

i think that by telling the viewers about what our shoots were like than we may encourage others to do the same. from what i have been reading so far is that you all really enjoyed the shoot even if it was your first time nude behind the camera and that is what it is all about.

so if you have done a shoot why not tell the viewers how much fun you had.
