Images of naked families

It is always a controversial subject and one that makes many uncomfortable. But should a nudist site, such as Naked Australians, display images of nude families, including children?

On one hand, perhaps we are hypocritical to not show children enjoying nudism since we strongly argue it is a perfectly natural and healthy way of life.

But, of course, we need to consider if there a danger attached to displaying such photographs? Could they make children more vulnerable?

Another factor to consider is if it is indeed legal in Australia to publish non-sexual nude images of people under 18.

At Naked Australians, we certainly do not include any models under the age of 18, even though many underage teenagers have approached us in the past.

Make a comment if you like or vote on the issue on our polls page.

WOW a very touchy subject indeed.  It is true that such material can attract pedophiles.. and we want to keep this site a very healthy site so to speak and wouldnt want it to attract the wrong crowd... so i think the site should not put pictures of nude children.. just to save it grace and stop anything illegal from starting.. I know  that i would teach my child that there is nothing wrong with nudism...i would even let him or her go nude as long as the child was in  my presence.  I would take them to a place that  was appropriate for  nudism to be displayed and let them go  naked if they pleased.. if they felt comfortable.   Perhaps i would deffinately start  letting them run  naked at home amongs the household as long  as it were in the presence of the family that was comfortable with it.

Maybe there are some places that  allow family nudity... i  do know that there used to be a magazine  here in the States called Naturally that was geared toward nudism and the family unit.. I woldnt want such a good site under investigation because of someone who was narrow minded or closed minded  that comes upon this stie.  even if the pictures are displayed  very non sexual, i think some people would deffinately consider it  taboo.  For those of you who have children, if u wish them to be nude... start at home,  then perhaps find a community that  caters to the nudism in the family and  while you are trying to  open your childs mind to being nude as being  a good thing... explain to them  also, that some ppl find it very harsh and offensive.  Unfortunately there will always be someone who finds any nudism wrong.

Erin July 25, 2007, 5:18 pm

Sorry Naked Australians but you just can't put naked children on your site. It would be very wrong. You need to protect children first ahead of your nudism agenda.

Mel July 25, 2007, 8:47 pm

Nope nope and nope. Whilst nudist magazines have naked families in them, I don't believe it is right to photograph a child... For anyone under 18 still has a lot of maturing to do and how many peadophiles would decide to use this site for their perverted pleasure?

Sorry... But NO

James July 25, 2007, 9:12 pm

I think you know the answer when you posted it - People would vote that naked children should not be allowed on the Naked Australians site. But for this person I have a different view.

I put it into context. This is a nudist site, not a sex site. This site is based around promoting nudism on many levels and that nudism is the most natural thing in the world. A uphill battle it is, and indeed, will be forever! and thats just on the standard run of the mill nudist issue.

If I take a view of nudism is only for the great outdoors, then I would never be nude because of living in a cooler climate. However, because I view nudism as a lifestyle choice whether it be indoors or out  I can sit here now completely nude in winter. If I take the view of nudism being a back to nature thing, then I fail again because I don't get back to nature while I'm sitting in my arm chair watching a movie whilst naked. But as I again take on the view of nudism being a lifestyle choice, I can do what I want, when I want in the nude.

If I take on the view that children should not be seen in ANY nudist environment (which includes websites) then I am in fear of giving bait to paedophiles, I do not want to be controlled by the fear of society about paedophiles. What hope does the nudist movement have in promoting the lifestyle as one that can be enjoyed by all members of the family, that's it the most natural way to live. However, as I take the view that children (as well as their familes) could be seen in any nudist environment, I then am promoting images of children in a totally free and natural environment with their familes. But here is where I do take a definate view. That any images of children should be and only be depicted in a family environment. Any images of nude children alone (by themselves) would have serious repercussions.

The fear of paedophiles is getting a larger hold on society as time goes on. Don't allow nude children on nudist beaches because of the fear paedophiles. Do not let nude children be involved in nudist activities because of the fear of paedophiles. Do not take photos of your own children  in a nude social environment in fear of being implicated of being a paedophile. Do not allow your children to see you naked at any time, in fear of being a paedophile (and this is from a registered child Psychologist).

A family in general is viewed as Mum, Dad and the kids. But family can also be viewed as Mum, Dad and their siblings or just Mum and the kids or Dad and the kids in todays society. Its just the moment we add children to the mix, our attitudes change and again its due to the fear of paedophiles being in our midst. However, as it's been documented time and time again, sex deviants can be anywhere and most likely to be a family member who could be the culprit. And one who is a nudist and takes kids out to the local nudist beach.

In my view, by continuely keeping images of children or children in general out of harms way in the nudist envrionment, I believe we are only exasperating the nudist lifestyle even further.

scott July 26, 2007, 11:12 am

I have had this dicussion on another site and friends of mine about this topic, children should NOT be on a site like this. There is to many legal issues to contend with, as one of the other coments says  it would attract paedophiles and other sexually frustrated perverts. If that ever happens the integrity of this site will go in a flash. I believe that anyone that is a model and whoever has a close affiliation would fell let down and be vunerable about going nude in public again for a period of time.

Jason July 26, 2007, 11:23 am

I voted in the poll and said I would not be offended by naked children on the site. That's because I wouldn't be.

How can we really believe nudity is healthy and normal yet shield children from it? That's not exactly standing by our convictions. A naked child is no more sexual then any other naked human being.

If we were exposed to more nude families then the sick sexual fascination with children might not be as rampant as it is. If we keep things hidden and concealed, it makes it more intriguing and more of a turn on.

Jason July 26, 2007, 12:42 pm
I would not be offended (52% votes) 35% voters would be offended 11% voters are not sure it seems 46% have not tried nudism at a nudist beach, camp, club, resort
Barb July 27, 2007, 6:54 pm

So James am I right to think that your banana brained logic is to further the nudist cause by using naked images of children?

micheal July 27, 2007, 7:14 pm

this topic has been discussed time and time again and it always get me pissed off. why you ask its because of the narrow minded people out there that cant realise that if a child is in a picture clothed or not the twisted ones that get thier kicks out of it will.

i myself have been a nudist for nearly ten years now and have been nude around families with childeren and yes the kids were nude. OMG shock horror how dare i expose myself in front of these childeren. man grow up people kids are human beings and it should be upto the parents of those kids to make an informed decision as to weather thier kids should go nude or not.

i have a sister in law that we introduced to nudism when she was 12 and she loves it. in her own words it has made her more comfortable about her body and has given her self esteem a huge boost. also now as she is a few years older and getting more involved in realationships she has thanked us for taking out the one ferar that a lot of young kids have and thats the first time you see your other half naked. because she has seen me nude heaps of times this is not a big drama for her.

so in my mind nude images of childeren in the right context is fine. if naked australians was to put nude images of childeren by themselves that that would be crossing the line but kids with thier families enjoying the nudist lifestlye--- well isnt that what this site is all about.

anyway if this site is to go down that road it will take a lot of sexual persona off the site. lets face if you are here to get your rocks off at nude centerfolds than you will be sadly mistaken if familes are here as well(no offence to the currrent models you all look great).

Michael..

thank you..i was trying to  convery that mesage in my response earlier... i kind of hit it on the nail about the family part..  it should start at home.. i know there is a famous male star in the states who himself said on a very popular talk show when it was on the air... that him and his family do not wear clothes around the house... that him and his wife do not believe in hiding things from their kids... i used to have that on videotape but accidently threw all my tapes out when i got my dvd..

i practiced my nudism when i was a young teenager... when my parents werent home.. but when they pulled up into our driveway..my clothes would come back on.. my parents respected at least that much about my freedom...and i in turn respected their wishes when they werent home..

you are such a pleasure to have on the site..

Barb.

It seems that  terminology and justification of the use of such vocabularly, can only denote the small mindedness that advocates such topics. I had not realised that this site was used as a slinging match between people who have opposite opinions. Now my opinion here, is that it comes back to how we view the words within.

It is fact of society that when we have trillions of people in the world, we have trillions of thoughts about any one subject. Perhaps my opinion was not written with the skill of presenting the facts as I wish to, and by doing so I have allowed myself to be an open target for people who have their set opinion in stone and do not wish to "consider" other views. This for me presents caution. What is the point of having a point of view and allowing to express it, only for those words to minced.

Fear is fear its self. Nobody  has any right to attack anybodies opinion unless they have contructed one themselves to support their statement of view against the original point of view. If people continue to do this, eventually they may wish to make a point but nobody will listen.

Does the boy who cried wolf mean anything...

James July 29, 2007, 7:31 am

Thank you Michael

It seems you have the skill to put into words what I failed to do. Your thoughts echo mine.

Thank you again.

ron July 29, 2007, 12:57 pm

hey Barb,

it wasnt my intent to attack your point... yes everyone does have a point and an opinion... i think when it comes down to it.... if a person feels that his or her opinion is right.. they should carry it out and live with their strong belief.. there is deffinately nothing wrong with that at all..

Everything in life will have more than one side...i think in a way it's what makes life interesting. My first post about this stated, in some ways, both points of view... i try to look at things in life both ways.. and try to put myself in both situations... whether i will experience one or the other no one really knows...

I think it is good for people to have a discussion about things in life whether it be a taboo subject, or not... it will help people come together.. and not be so closed minded on subjects.

Sometimes i feel this is where the world goes wrong... no one discusses.. they refuse to talk.. communication on any topic is most important.. just like it is in any form of relationshiop... and together, hopefully,   respect can be earned from all parties..... and not that i mean i want to earn anyones respect... i couldnt really come up with a propper explanation...

have a good day

Your idea is to promote nudism as a lifestyle, so if a person/persons is interested in finding out more about it, but they are concerned how their children would handle it, then rather than having pictures of children running around enjoying themselves nude, have the parents of the children talk/write about what their children think of being nude. If a person/s says they need to see nude children running around before they will believe it. Then I would be a bit suspicious of such a person/s.

I don't know if what I just wrote would help or not, but since the purpose of the site is to tell people about the naturist lifestyle and promote it as a better way of living, then the pictures already displayed along with written information about the benefits of the lifestyle should be enough to help people formulate an opinion on whether they want to go to the next step and try going to a beach or a resort and meet other people, especially others who are new to this lifestyle as well and get a feel for it.

Having the email address is very good, so  people can contact you and ask their questions or share their fears with you.

Kind regards Paul

micheal July 31, 2007, 7:29 pm

good points paul. when we first introduced my sister in law to nudism we gave her some of our nudist magazines that we had to read. these did give her an understanding about what the nudist lifestlye was like but she mentioned that one thing was missing for her to really gain an idea of what it would be like for someone her age and that was the lack of topics about kids in nudism. she thought it would be a great idea to ahve a magazine produced with the younger generation in mind so kids that are living a nudist lifestyle could have a magazine to read that had topics written by kids for kids. kind of like dolly magazine crossed with a nudist magazine.

thier are a lot of questions from  the younger nudists that can only be answeared by those asking them. maybe the nudist mags need to listen to the young voices and have a section in thier publications for these leaders of the future

Good point Micheal, children talking about what being a nudist is like can be beneficial for other children who are curious about the lifestyle and also for parents who are curious about how this lifestyle would affect their children.

It could allay some fears that other children/parents might have about the lifestyle and give them some positive idea's that they had not thought of in regards to it.

I like the point about them being the next generation of leaders, what they do or don't know about the nudist lifestyle can affect whether it continues to go forward or fall back due to lack of knowledge.

It might be something for "NAKEDAUSTRALIANS.COM" to consider doing. Seeing pictures of nude children in itself is not enough, hearing from other children(of differing ages) about what it is like can make a big difference.

Thankyou for your comments Micheal.

Paul

Might seem like a silly question but why do you people think that the next generation needs to be the kind that would support nudism?

micheal August 1, 2007, 9:20 pm

i think i see where you are going 'likes to be naked' and if it is that in the future the greater community are accepting of nudity and it becomes legal to go nude anywhere than i hope your right but in reality the younger generation are going to be the make or break of the nudist lifestyle. i hope that nudism gets more accepted and i can see that happen but it is always good to have a plan b

Nope.

Melanie June 2, 2009, 11:56 pm

If you agree it's a touchy subject, why ask the question in the forum about how old a model should be before allowing people to pose for the site?  Also why ask if people will be offended if  you were to put pictues of naked families up?  I have read some of these comments here.. and if it's not a sex site.. then why have males do masturbation shots?  You guys are asking for your site to be closed down and possibly a police investigation if you havn't already been reported. Be careful Naked Australians.

Melanie June 2, 2009, 11:59 pm

Another question or thing to consider... how do you know that a person is the age he or she says she is... how do you know they aren't carrying a fake tag stating a false age. Is Brody really 18 or is he younger?   I think you really should stick to 21 or above, that way you won't have the chance of trouble down the road.

Stuart Baanstra October 8, 2011, 6:44 pm
The winter issue of "Australian Health and Sun" has photos of naked children. Not many, but just a few. I guess it all depends on the legal issues. Children depicted with adults may well be ok. I voted that children should appear on Naked Australians. Of course, there should never be any sexual depiction of children until they reach the legal age of consent. I'm particularly disturbed by Melanie's comments on masturbation and how it got into this debate. The models masturbating are all over 18. While they're sexually explicit, they should in no way be linked to the issue at hand. Stuart.

I was told a few years ago by a local photographer that in the state of Queensland it is not illegal to photograph anybody under 18 nude, as long as they are not behaving in a sexual manner.

Personally, I believe that if we are to promote nudism as being an activity that people of all ages can participate in then I think we ought to allow photos of nude children and teens on here.  However, the children should be photographed with their parents.

Childhood nudity is supposed to symbolise fun, innocence and purity.  "To the pure all things are pure, but to those who are corrupt and unbelieving nothing is pure".
