NEW YORK (AP) September 2007 -- Vanessa Hudgens' representative has confirmed that a nude photo circulating on the Internet is indeed the 18-year-old star of Disney Channel's wildly popular "High School Musical" series.

Vanessa Hudgens plays Gabriella, the brainy love interest of Zac Efron's basketball star, in "High School Musical."

"This was a photo which was taken privately," a statement from Hudgens spokesman said, according to MSNBC.com. "It is a personal matter and it is unfortunate that this has become public."

The photo shows the 18-year-old actress standing naked in what appears to be a bathroom, with a red shower curtain behind her.

There was no immediate comment Friday from officials at the Walt Disney Co.

Hudgens portrayed Gabriella, the brainy love interest of Zac Efron's basketball star in the first two "High School Musical" movies. The two are said to be dating in real life.

"High School Musical 2" attracted more than 17 million viewers for its Disney Channel premiere in August, the most-watched television program of the summer. A feature film "High School Musical 3" is planned

Thanks Michael for sharing the picture.. .i feel all the fuss is because she is doing a movie that is targeted toward younger crowds, though anyone can see High School Musical, and parents here find that very degrading and very wrong for a role model.... you should have heard all the negative comments i came across about Daniel Radcliffe doing the nude scene in the play Eqqus. One parent came in to the coffee shop where i work .. and we were talking about the Harry Potter movie, and she told me flat out that her children were no longer going to see the movies and they were getting rid of all the Harry Potter things in their house, because Daniel is suppose to be a role model.. and HOW COULD HE DO SUCH A THING???  

of course one parent looked at her and just rolled her eyes...lol

nic take a look at her hair and you will see that her hand is covered by the hair she is holding.

ron some parents just go over the top dont they. ban them from seeing the play for sure if she has a problem with nudity but to ban the kids from harry potter and throwing out all of the harry stuff thats madness. doenst she realise how much some of that stuff is going to be worth in 20 years. anyway by banning the kids that putting accross that it was wrong of him to to the play and thats not right at all

Yes some parents go over the top.. When the very first Harry  Potter Book came out,  we had a bunch of Bible Thumpers claiming it was full of witchcraft and tried boycotting some of the bookstores here for selling.... Guess who won out...lol

Sometimes, they choose the wrong person to have intimate relations with though.

yes sweetie you have a perfect body.  I used to think the same thing about my as well.. i would see a hot looking guy and think, why couldn't i have a  body like that too.... but then realized... my body is fine the way it is.... i like the me i am. it seems that here in the States, where else of course,  one feels they have to apologise for being themselves, especially if they are a famous person.

Look at the superbowl incident with Janet Jackson and Justin Timberlake... on national televised tv.. we got to see Janets nipple and there was a big to do about it.. til finally Janet herself went on the air and pubicly apologized for offeneding anyone.. it was just her nipple or breast.. for gods sake.

  I think over here when somethng like this happens the starts immediatelyi think,"oh no i better apologize quickly before my career is ruined."

Teen star Vanessa Hudgens has again sparked a whirlwind of publicity amid new allegations she sent naked pictures of herself to a Nickelodeon actor two years ago.

Hudgens made headlines last week when a different nude pic — meant for her High School Musical co-star and current boyfriend Zac Efron — was released on the web.

Hudgens reportedly sent some racy self-portraits to Drake and Josh star Drake Bell during a short stint playing his onscreen girlfriend.

Bell’s agent Jill Fritz has denied the reports in People magazine.

"Drake says he never received those photos," Fritzo said.

Eighteen-year-old Hudgens — who is currently in Australia to help promote Efron’s new film Hairspray — issued a public apology on Friday for the earlier incident.

"I want to apologise to my fans, whose support and trust means the world to me," Hudgens said in a statement.

"I am embarrassed over this situation and regret having ever taken these photos. I am thankful for the support of my family and friends."

The scandal has caused a big headache for Disney as it gears up for a third series of the wholesome High School Musical.

"Vanessa has apologized for what was obviously a lapse in judgment," Disney said.

"We hope she's learned a valuable lesson."

Okay more Vanessa news.. it seems that Disney is kind of going back on their word of forgiveness... High School High 3 is being talked about, and it seems that Disney is not casting Vanessa for the third installment but instead, casting a new girl.. it seems that while Disney has said they forgive Vanessa for her pics.. they aren't too quick in casting her again... of couse Disney is so closed  minded on most things in life.. this doesn't surprise me..... i will see what i can find out further on the subject..

I think the photo is great and I personally dont see anything wrong with it. She is at the age of consent and if she wants to share her nudity with the rest of world; then good luck to her. I think she has a hot body and she would do well posing nude for the camera on a professional basis. I wish I had the opportunity myself to do exactly the same but also get paid for it.

i totally agree with you on the Vanessa situation..i think the big problem is that Disney feels that since they are a family oriented business so to speak, that while you are under contract with them or something like that.. you aren't not allowed to do anything that is considederd immoral.. Disney has always been in the news about something...in the last century, they had a lawsuit against them, dealing with something related to gay issues and it got big news here.. Disney had to release a public statement. of apology. i am not sure of the complete details.

This latest thing with Vanessa doesn't surprise me... they seem to think that human beings don't exist...lol

I think she should be commended for the nude photos on the basis that it has brought a lot of publicity to the movies. just the other weekend i was at a nudist retreat and they have austar there that just happened to be showing the high school musical so i watched a bit. now if i hadnt known about the nude pics than i wouldnt have bothered at all to watch it.

maybe that will help her cause.

Do these winkers at Disney (winker=someone too stupid to work out how to have decent wank), turn the lights out or hang a towel over the mirror when they shower? Such prudery should be considered shocking, and the audacity to think that they have the right to impose it on ANYONE else!

Sometimes i do feel that Disney has the say in a lot of things here in the States, simply because they are considered a family oriented organisation, if you will, and it burns me the hell up all the time.  They really need get with the program and relise that people are human and just because someone bears all it doesn't mean they are immoral or a deviate.

Unfortnately if the contract with Disney calls for no nudity then the actors or actresses would have to abide by it.  I know in the late  sixties, when Hayley Mills was under contract with them.. she couldn't do anything that was too adult or unacceptable to Disney and while whe was under contract with them.. she had to have permission to do other things.. Eventually her contract ended after she became TOO OLD for Disney..

Hey i just read on Yahoo  where Disney and Vanessa has reached some kind of agreement for her to do High School Musical 3. Earlier in the year Disney was looking at another actress to do number 3. no word yet if they still plan to use the other girl, or what she would play.

this is a shame for her that she has been dumped for a few innocent nude photos. I wonder what the reaction would have been if she had done something violent. I wonder if she would have been dumped then.

It still amazes me that a few nude photos can cause such an uproar when violence is so accepted in todays society.
